SeaPort-NxG
SeaPort-NxG provides an efficient and effective means of contracting for professional support services and enhancing small business participation. SeaPort-NxG is the Navy’s electronic platform for acquiring support services in 23 functional areas including Engineering, Financial Management, and Program Management. The Navy Systems Commands (NAVSEA, NAVAIR, NAVWAR, NAVFAC, and NAVSUP), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), Military Sealift Command (MSC), and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) compete for their service requirements.
Federal Aviation Administration
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) oversees the safety of civil aviation. The safety mission of the FAA is first and foremost and includes the issuance and enforcement of regulations and standards related to the manufacture, operation, certification and maintenance of aircraft. The agency is responsible for the rating and certification of airmen and for certification of airports serving air carriers. It also regulates a program to protect the security of civil aviation, and enforces regulations under the Hazardous Materials Transportation Act for shipments by air.
Department of Transportation
The DoT is a federal executive division responsible for programs and policies relating to transportation. Besides the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, it controls the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), which plans, develops, and oversees construction of interstate highways; the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), which issues and enforces rail safety regulations and administers railroad financial assistance programs; the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), which manages mass transit development and improvement programs; the Maritime Administration (MARAD), which supervises the U.S. merchant marine; and various specialized regulatory, research, and development agencies, including offices for hazardous materials transportation and pipeline safety.
